Having only used XM for the last year ( i had grey market U.S) prior to Canada going on line it is hard for me to say which is better. I prefer the XM for the stations they offer and the special progamming they put forth. I think the only thing that people look at when comparing the two is the offering of that schmuck Stern on Serius. The news and sports on XM is great and channel 153 which is Canadian comedy is funny as hell. The options of 60 for classic R & B and 73 for Frank and his friends certainly appeals to my demographic.

Both are good, but I have Sirius for Stern. I have been very happy with all the other channels especially the sports and rock ones.

In the car I listen to XM, at work we get Sirius. I find I really like both and honestly I can never see myself going back to listening to FM radio. It's amazing how much more music can be squeezed in without the commercials and I think its well worth paying for. Add the fact that you can pick a station based on your mood at any point in time and it makes for a great purchase. When you want rock you put on rock, dance--you put on dance, comedy--you put on comedy.

My Vote is for Sirius

Although I am signed up as a US customer I believe the key stations are now available to Sirius Canada subscribers.... Of course I'm referring to Howard 100 and Howard 101 the home of Howard Stern, Bubba The Love Sponge and others. With about an hour and a half commute daily I can't say enough about the therapeutic benefits of listening to these guys "shocking the puss", "girls riding the Sybian", the song parodies (sp ?), the strippers etc... It's all great and unless you have subscribed all I can say is you have no idea what you are missing. Give it a try and even if you don't enjoy the intensely juvenile sexual content there are dozens of fantastic music channels.

NFL RADIO makes Sirius the choice...

If you like NFL, it's Sirius all the way --

-- channel 124 is 24-hours a day NFL RADIO -- really decent "talking heads" in most shows -- Solomon Wilcots, Adam Shien, Pat Kerwin, Tim Ryan, Randy White, Gil Brant -- in season they had Dan Reeves, Shannon Sharpe, John Riggins and a bunch more -- since it's all league sanctioned stuff, they have really decent call in guests most of the day...

Stern is Stern....Comedy Channels are pretty good...music selection is probably on par with XM (channel choice wise)...IMHO, Playboy Radio is really pretty bad -- listened when it first came on for a bit, poor hosts, nothing really "Playboy" about it -- bunch of call in shows, advice column type stuff...haven't tuned back since the first few days...

Actually XM is the exclusive satellite choice for the NHL starting next season, and lasting through 2016. Yes - a ten year contract. Come the end of the finals, the NHL will no longer be on Sirius.

XM radio free in your home

Use your Directv dish and receiver with your laid up card and you can get XM satellite radio free on your stereo. I guess it's a little perk from the DTV guys for all of us that hacked for oh so many years...........

My favorite station: Ethel

Cheers,
Jack

I have the U.S. Sirius receiver and subscription (not the Canadian version) and I find that the signal drops out when I reach the Exhibition grounds on the Gardener Expressway. Same place everyday. At that point, the local 88.1 station kicks in and seemingly overpowers the U.S. signal. From that point right into the heart of Toronto, I lose the Sirius signal.

So if you're living in Toronto, buying an American receiver and subscription probably isn't a good idea. :(

yeah; I have that "crackling" reception everytime i pass through yonge & Bloor
and gets worse as I travel into the downtown core from there. I think
it has to do with all the tall buildings around, it just can,t pick up the signal.

I have the cnd service.. it seems to work fine in the downton core for me.. there are ground towers that suplement the sat signal to help keep it clear... I have a home unit at work and the antena is not near a window and it works well from the ground tower signal..the sat signal doesn't even register..... i do have a signal problem at Steels and the 404.. but it happens with my cell phone there also..
