I stopped paying for my bell sympatico unlimited high speed dsl connection for 50 bucks a month cos it was too much to pay for internet -

I decided to go with verizon's internet offer for 17.99 a month high speed ...

My question is - I don't want to erase all the settings that i still have for the bell sympatico unlimited high speed dsl connection service - on my computer - because the verizon internet service provider might give internet service that is too slow or laggy for high speed computer multiplayer gaming that i sometimes engage in -

so in case verizon is too slow or laggy - is it possible to keep my bell sympatico high speed internet settings on my computer - saved - and not erase or changed -

while having an alternative saved settings for the verizon ISP -

Can one set up his computer so that it can derive internet from two Internet Service Providers?

How do i do this in the "Internet Connections" on my control panels?

With my laptop I often connect to different types of providers, you can keep various settings separate with no problems. Your computer will find the right one.

damn

damn - that link makes it look and sound like rocket science. And I'm not articulate in Linux-speak. Is it really that complex? wow! Just to have the option of multiple ISP sources? Gee. Why does it have to be so complicated? I'm sure more than alot of people wanted to accomplish this and weren't computer articulate. There must be a more basic way of accomplishing this, for people whom aren't computer professionals.

Maybe --------> Control Panel ---------> Network Connections ---------> ?

Dash,

When you had Sympatico, it instructed you to go to either "My Computer" or "Internet Options" in the control panel.

You can also access it through the Internet Explorer "tools" section under connections.

You should see the Sympatico login icon in these locations.

Choose New setup or new connection from the left side menu, and then follow the setup instructions with the new ISP It will create a seperate connection icon. Select whichever one you want as the default connection.

That should do it and maintain the previous installation.

Although with WIN XP it will automatically find it if it's a hard wire connection, meaning not wireless. You simply give the new connection the name you want

The new ISP connection guid eshould walk you through it pretty easily.
