I just bought 6 DVDs from pacific mall today. Came home and tried it in my xbox. 3 works but other 3 doesnt. Telling me to make sure its dvd, xbox game or music cd etc blah blah. The 3 that doesn work all have the symbol that says it works on all dvd players, which the other 3 has as well. I dont see/know the difference between the 1s that work and 1s that dont.
Why is it that 3 doesn work when its all DVDs? And is there some way to get around this?
Havent tried it on an actual dvd player yet. hopefully that will work at least, so i can get my moneys worth at 6 dvds. :D

Ok, just tried it on a normal dvd player and that doesnt work either. It just pops back out. Are they blank discs?

Dvd

All DVD players prefer specific media and most of the "clone" DVD's you have bought from Pacific Mall were probably bought from a lower grade/price media. Also, check the media/disk for scratches and dirt.

Remember, this is assuming that there is nothing wrong with the Video_ts files themselves. Place the disk into your DVD-rom in your computer and see if it can be read by the computer. If your computer can read it then your Xbox doesn't like the media. DVD-Roms on P.c. 's are also picky on the type of media.

My suggestion is:
1/. Return the disks to where you bought it for an exchange/refund.
or
2/. If they will not accept the DVD's, then bring them to a friend who has a DVD burner in thier computer and let him/her copy the disk to a "brand name" media for you.

Thats what i figured i'd have to do, take it for an exchange.
I have tried putting the disc in my computer and it doesnt read. if i click on d drive, theres nothing in there.
I used to think you can tell whether its good or not just judging by the cover, but i guess it takes more than that, prob where you get them. Should have gone to the place i went last couple times, just saw the 6 for 20bucks deal and got greedy . :p thanx

XBoxen (and PS2s) were manufactured with DVD drives from different manufacturers (Thomson, Phillips, Samsung), so their media incompatibilities can vary. You can google "DVD compatibility" for more information (e.g. from www.videohelp.com).
