One of my computers can't connect to the internet for some reason. Any suggestions or leads is appreciated.
I have Rogers Express Hi-Speed service at home. The problem is this; my laptop (Dell Latitude D600 w/Centrino, XP Professional OS, Service Pack 2 installed) will connect automatically to the internet through the Rogers modem without problem. However, my desktop (P4 chip, XP Professional OS, Service Pack 2 installed) will not connect through the same portal. I have installed a new Syslink ethernet card in the desktop. The Network Connections Status indicates that the computer is "connected" and the connection speed is "100.00Mbps" but the Activity Packets indicates "0" received. The computer is set to obtain the IP address automatically. So why is the internet connection ok but the computer still won't allow me to "connect"? Is there some setting I'm missing? If so, which and how do I set it?
Let me know if additional info is required to help me solve my problem.
Thanks all in advance.
