Looking to upgrade my mobile as the current one is outdated and I am having problems with reception.
Not picky about which provider but noticed that they don't all carry the same phones.
Which would you guys recommend?
One with good recepiton would be preferable.

Lustology- i've seen the ads, but will it be available here and from who

SAMM- so i've heard lol but wonder being so small if it works good ie. reception

asn- reception primarily. i travel to the boonies quite a bit and want less calls dropped. not looking for anything fancy. bells and whistle are nice but not a deal breaker. budget wise, something reasonable. even if above average in price

eyeofthedragon- I know they will probably hammer me with charges if a buy the phone separately. I don't want to do that. That's why I mentioned they don't all carry the same kinds. Leaning towards Rogers but not dead set on it.

They won't hammer you with charges... rate plans are the same whether you buy the phone or already have one... just a $25-$35 fee to activate it.

I bought a phone out of country, paid $30 to unlock it, and now use it on Rogers ppd.

Between here and there.
RAZR's all style....

I've had the Roger's Moto RAZR 3v with an international calling SIM chip as a company phone for the past 5 months. It's a great looking phone, very slim and stylish with a nice display but its features and performance is middle of the road. Nothing special at all. I actually prefer my old Samsung A680. I like the Samsung's size, user interface and button locations better.

I don't really get all the rave about the RAZR. It's all style, not much else.

the best?... depends on the person buying it, the features you want, the shape & size & the network you want to sign up on.

I would not buy Motorola.. that is just my personal preference

If I were in the market for a phone I would look at CDMA, Samsung, Kyocera & Sanyo

I'd be surprised if any carrier here offered it. In general, carriers in Canada offer only the low-end Sony Ericssons. I wouldn't wait for any to carry the new M600, W950 or higher end "Cybershot" phones. In other places, for example, the W800 -- great phone btw -- was available through the carriers, but all we got were the middle-of-the-road W600 and S710.

I wouldn't get motorolla. they have very very poor build quality. I've owned a V300, V600 and a Razr and all 3 have broken on me. The problem was always the speaker phone and after reading some posts on www.howardforums.com they all pointed out that there's little to no rubber protecting the speaker phone when you close the clamshell. As a result there is a lot of shock damage to the speaker and often it quits on you. The problem itself isn't new, but motorolla failed to fix it in three phones which makes me wonder how good they really are.
For what it's worth, get a nokia. There's a new one, 6682 being released this month has wonderful reviews.

I'll be buying this one as soon as rogers sorts out the pricing plan for a hardware upgrade.
Also one bit of advice, if you belong to a large company, rogers has special plans for hardware upgrades which include waiving the admin fees, discounts on phones as well $50-150 credits on your phone bill, if anyone wants to know more about it, PM me. It saved me a lot of money.
