Okay, my Panda antivirus software is about to expire. I have had no problems with viruses in the past year. But I googled looking for a review and it seems that Panda hasn't done so well with the VB 100% tests. Now, that doesn't mean much to me, but I gather there are several different tests these softwares are put through, and VB 100% is one of them.

So now I am researching different softwares and I come across this comparison chart on different softwares
http://anti-virus-software-review.toptenreviews.com/#

I have used McAfee and Norton in the past, so I am tempted to go with one of them, just because I recognize the names. And they both rate quite highly. But if you check the link above, you wil see 2 others: BitDefender and Kaspersky. They both rate higher, and one, BitDefender, is a fair bit cheaper at $25.

It seems I should go with BitDefender. Questions, comments, opinions?

Why pay these companies?

I use Avast Home edition. Its absolutely free.

Consumer reports rated it the best free anti-virus software. Its not quite Norton, but I haven't had any viruses with it. :)

AVG free adition has made a big difference.

Dont forget to cover yourself against different types of intruders. Also have Spybot Search & Destroy on your computer.

I really like AVG (the free edition).
Since getting it about 2 years ago I didn't have too many problems...

I'll vote for Avast. Never had a problem. Updates itself both the program and the definitions. And free to boot!

I use Norton Antivirus Corporate Edition (no expiry date) and my system runs A+. If you can get this one you will never need to buy or download again.

I use a Mac :p
LOL ...PC Magazine rated AVast the 3 rd best AV software and it is free Norton rated 8th even behind AVG... NOD was not rated but is an excellent piece of anti virus software... main thing is not to do anything stupid ...opening mail attachments from stranger downloading software thet u r not sure where it came from and such and u should be fine... i have only used the trendmicro online scan it it worked well.
Free is good... if u r going to buy AV software the number rated software was BitDefender ..again these are rating in PC magazine..... i use it on my MailScanner for spam filtering and it gets everything.

I was using NOV2005. no big complaints really, other than the install/delete sucked.
Then got my hands on NOV2006 couple months ago, my subscription lasts around 2457 days. Liking it so far. havent had problems with my computer yet.
