I'm sick of my provider... Bell HS DSL...

i had a Bell Digital Voice VOIP and called to ask what I had to do to transfer my number over to Vonage... the fuckers cut me off. I called Vonage and they said that the number has to be active for them to successfully have it transferred to them... i called back Bell and spent 2.5hours getting transferred all around the damn country trying to get my damn phone number back...and actually came back to be connected with one of the original bell reps that i talked to this morning and he was quite rude and tried to change the story to make it my fault...WTF... I'm so through with Bell.

now, thanks for letting me vent.

back to HighSpeed:

what do you use, and what are the rates, contracts (y/n), etc... how do you like your supplier of high bandwidth?

Forget Bell and Rogers. They'll hit you up the wahzoo :p Try 3Web - reliable connection for fraction of the price.

yes it is possible to get a dsl without subscribing for a phone line, I think they call it Dry DSL , but they charge a fee for it.

I've been with teksavvy for over 2 years now, u can get high speed for 30 bucks a month but u have to buy your own modem , their sevice is great i had steady connection for 2 years with no problems.

I agree its cheaper with 3web, but they have the worst customer service. Avg hold time is around 30-45 mins.
which has happened to me with Bell... when you're pissed off with their service, they make you pay bad.

I don't use them, but one benefit of Rogers or Cogeco is you can get free basic cable for your TV. Just tell them you want internet only, they can't avoid supplying for TV as well.

Hello Svend,
What do I need to access the TV cable if I am paying for Internet only?

Use a cable splitter, then connect one wire to the TV. You won't get additional channels aside from the basic, but it's free.

thanks everyone...

i think Koss's recommendation of TeksavvySolutions is probably best.

they provide a dry DSL for $10.98 + the 3MBps High Speed is $29.95

bell sympatico offers:

dry DSL free with sympatico subscription of the same 3Mbps HS....
total of $50.95

Hey, if i can save 10 bucks a month, I'm in!

and now that I'm with Vonage, combined internet and telephone savings will add up to over 100 bucks per month...!

I use my neighbours' unprotected wireless networks.

here, there and everywhere!
business DSL?

Does anyone know of a company that offers BUSINESS DSL at rates cheaper than Bell? Lots of companies offer cheaper residential rates, but I haven't yet found a company that offers business rates below Bell's.

I do that, but only get 5 clear channels and two fuzzy ones. Most of the basic channels are blocked.
Good enough for me as I don't watch much TV. lol
