I am looking at getting a new PDA.
I have had the Palm Treo 600 and it was sh!t. After a while it began humming while I was on the phone to the point that the other person couldn't hear me. Is the 650 a better design and model?
What about Blackberries?

Your place!!
I've heard that monthly bills for Blackberrys can get quite high before you know it.

I say Treo. With RIM's legal problems the so called crack berry is going to be obsolete in a couple of years. Palm Treo is the number one PDA in north america. Besides, blackberry is ugly.

I have both a Treo 650 and 7100R - Get a blackberry. I have used it in six countries in the last 8 weeks and no problems - service is reliable and yes it costs a little more to operate but obviously you have a need for communication so the difference should not be a consideration. If you are planning to travel outside your Canadian providers area make sure it is unlocked so you can get affordable service wherever you travel.

If you can wait 6 months, do that. If not, most people I know simply love the BB. I'm not partial to it, but then again, I don't use half the functions of my current handsets.

If you go Treo wait for the pocket pc version, I think it is the 700. The 650 tends to freeze a lot.

I bought the ipaq hw6515 from rogers, so far quite pleased. It does everything the others do plus GPS maps, optional wifi card, video, bluetooth

So now I have a Treo 650 and a Blackberry.
Had problems with both so far... The Treo was gently tapped on the screen and the LCD broke. Cost about $300 to repair and it wasn't covered by Bell despite them saying that as long as I didn't get it wet they would fix it for free.
My Blackberry is awful. I am getting a buzzing noise all the time when using it; it fails to turn on and leaving me with the hour glass for up to an hour while it loads. It often says that it can't connect with the network and that there is no signal. This is the same problem I had with my Treo 600, also on the Rogers network.

I found the Blackberry 8700 to be excellent.

I hate being connected 24/7, but the damn thing really keeps working. Good display, lots of volume, reliable and though I've skidded it across the parking lot several times, it seems to survive it all.

I use both the 8700 with Rogers and 7100i with Telus (because of the Mike). they are both great and i would highly recommend either.

I've tested both.
The Treo is more 'phone-centric' the BB more 'data-centric'.
If you need it for business email, make sure your email server supports either Treo or BB.

I'm debating which way to go also..

I've been leaning towards the TREO only because my need leans more towards client database management and synching with my desktop at work...the only negative i've heard about the TREO is the quality of the phone service.

any comments?

will the phone be corrected in the upcoming TREO 700??

how is the data management with the Blackberry?

I have done some research on PDAs and the Motorola Q is the phone to get. Second place would be Treo 700. I am not a blackberry fan because I don't like the user interface.

I used to have a Palm 650, but I got rid of it because the data charges were too high. I have been thinking of getting the Motorola, but I am waiting for them to lower the prices on the data charges.

Thanks
