Does anyone know anything about Palm's?

I can't Hotsync for some reason, it say's "The connection between your device and the desktop could not be established. Please check your setup and try again."

Does anyone know what I could do to fix it? It was working a few days ago.

Make sure that your Palm's connection is correct (HotSync app - make sure it is set to Cradle/Cable if that is how you connect).

If you are connecting via a USB cable, I found that sometimes I had to a cold restart of the PC to re-init the USB connection.

It is Cradle/cable, and yes I am using a USB Connection.

How do I re-init the USB connection?

I don't know what it is about Palm and their software but I used a Palm Tungsten W and a Sony Clie and I find the Palm OS very annoying to use and picky about things.
On the otherhand, I have a HP iPaq and just enjoy using the Windows PocketPC OS on it. I can't stand the Palm OS software....the Windows Pocket OS is so much simpler. Could be all those years of using Windows on the PC I suppose.

I've had the same problem in the past - no real reason for it, and no real reason for it going away. Try unplugging everything, powering off your palm, and plugging everything back in. If its a USB connection, try a different USB port if you have one.

My bro has a Palm and the hotsync probls he's experience all dealt with the connectors in the cradle. Clean that out, then try disconnecting and reconnecting a buncha times.

I've had this problem with a lot of my clients. It depends on the type of Palm you have and the cradle. Check on the bottom of the cradle to see if there is a sticker with a letter on it. If there isn't you may have to send it in for them to replace (the cradle that is).

There something with the usb connection of the Palm. Some sort of static charge that builds up and makes you Palm unable to connect. Another way to try to fix it is if you have a reset chip. I bugged Palm so much with so many calls for various clients that they sent me one. All the chip does is back up your data, drains your battery and then you have to charge it for about a day after everything is done. About a 24 hour process. But it works every time!

Hope this helps.

I have a Palm Zire 72 and have never had any problems with the hot/sync function and don't even have a craddle for it. I just keep the USB cable plugged into the hard drive, and connect my palm when I want to update any info. The camera function on the Zire 72 is pretty good, you can take some interesting pictures with it to send to your favourite SP if you want ;) . NOw if they could have only made it so the battery lasts longer, that is my only complaint .
