Thomas Slattery of California has succeeded in convincing a judge that Apple has a monopoly in the digital music market, and that this monopoly "forced" him to buy an iPod. He is now suing Apple on those grounds. Look, if you want to buy music online, and if you want to listen to it on a portable device, you can. The reason doing it Apple's way is better is BECAUSE it's better, not because they sabotaged their competitors, a la Microsoft. As the linked story says, the case is a long shot, but it's just more evidence -- if it were needed -- that there are systemic problems with the American legal system.
