Online games crashing...
hey comp techies..
My Warcraft III Frozen Throne Online games have been abruptly cut short due to my computer crashing midgames. Its been happening almost every second game now. It never used to happen before. But yeah, my computer is obviously and very apparently very slow when it comes to opening folders and opening and shutting down programs such as the Warcraft III TFT game. It takes like at least five whole minutes for the game to shut down after i press the exit game button. I checked my computer's stats and it says I have 256 MB of RAM. And the games crash just after i restart the computer and i dont open any other programs and i make sure no other programs are running at the same time that the game is running - so as to not keep memory from the game while its in operation - but even with no programs running and after restarting the computer - the game still crashes - and its no rare occurence - it happens every second game ....
anyone have experience with this?
P.S And I already did a scan for spyware and had all spyware cleaned out (hopefully)...
I wandered into the radio shack outlet to inquire about this. Asked if they had RAM in stock and how much they cost. How much RAM my computer can have max. Told them about how my computer keeps crashing. The salesperson there was a nice guy and asked what exactly was the problem. I told him how I'm playing this game and my computer crashes unexpectedly in the middle of the game.
He asked what the game was. I told him it was Warcraft III The Frozen Throne and how its a small program compared to the ones on the shelf nowadays (Doom, Half Life 2) with graphics not even half as deep as those games (no shadows and complex lighting).
He said that its not my RAM that will help keep my computer from crashing during the game. It might help a little, but not significantly. He said it was my video card that's the problem. It can't even keep up during the game.
I left confused. My video card cant even keep up with such a simple, basic game as Warcraft III Frozen Throne? And Warcraft isnt that complex in terms of graphics. In fact its quite basic and simple. Not too basic and simple. But still, quite basic and simple.
The video card that is currently installed in my machine is a RADEON SERIES Excalibur 9200 SE. 128 MB DDR. AGP 8X. TV-OUT.
I also have a P4. 256 MB of RAM.
The Warcraft The Frozen Throne game details specification REQUIREMENTS as follows: 8 MB 3D video card.
Though, the game RECOMMENDS: 600 MHz, 256 RAM, 32 MB 3D Video Card.
So, is he right? Is my video card too small to handle Warcraft III The Frozen Throne?
I'm going to go do a virus scan now.
And what are the really nice video cards available out there? That could handle games such as Doom and Half Life 2? Cos I might get half life 2 in a few weeks. But of course, not before I get a new video card. So, what do you guys recommend for a video card if Im going to try and install half life 2 eventually? Or Doom.
And has anyone heard or tried the new dual-link video cards setup? (Two video cards installed, operating and connected together in the machine's motherboard.)
Or has anyone attempted the new motherboard's with duel processors on one motherboard?
Or has anyone attempted a motherboard with duel processors AND duel video cards????
Wow. I think I just had an orgasm
