People have to learn that not all goverments are as tolarent as the USA's or Canada's. Freedom of speech is a dream in most of the worl and not a law. So if Yahoo, Gogle or any coporation wants to do business in some countries. They will give the governments what they want.

could Yahoo as an american(???) company by found in breach of privacy laws???

They do it for sex tourists. wherever they go american/canadian law can follow and nail them when they return.

If Yahoo is primarily a western owned company there must be a way to sanction them for such an awful act.

They are working on addressing this:

This has touched on the implications of the net and a global marketplace. Each country has it's own laws and practises so now, with the net and online businesses, you can have a US company, doing business in china, but do they operate under US or Chinese law?

This problem cropped up not too long ago with online gambling. If memory serves it is illegal to gamble online in the US yet all these sites, mainly based in Carribean and European Countries, continue to operate.

While our privacy laws protect us here, I don't know that they can be enforced when it comes to citizens of a host country.....
