for Rogers subscribers, is there a way to get rid of the Rogers link to yahoo? ie. where it sends you to the Rogers yahoo page instead of the regular Yahoo page. This also screws up MY Yahoo page, taking you to a canadian version.

In Tools, Internet Option, change homepage to

http://www.yahoo.com/

and click Ok or Apply

change your location to united states for country in "my Account" and it should work
tried it but it doesn't let me change the country. It takes me to a Rogers Yahoo page. I noticed it also recognizes my IP address.

is it a cookie that re-directs me to the Canadian side?

could be just as simple as, you're on their servers, that's it.
cookies can't redirect you.

I used my recovery DVD, and when prompted during the recovery process, declined to insert the Rogers Internet installation CD. I am still able to access the Internet, but I am not directed to any Rogers web pages.

Do you have the Rogers Internet Browser? That may be the problem. Here's something from the Rogers support page. If that doesn't help, I suggest you go to www.rbua.org .. It has a section specifically for people who have problems with Rogers.

What Internet options can I change on the Rogers Yahoo! Browser?

You can change the default options for the Rogers Yahoo! Browser by clicking on "Settings" and selecting either "Internet Options" or "Browser Options" from the pull-down menu.

Internet Options

Allows you to set the options for your Internet experience, including settings for online security, content filters, browsing history, HTML editor, temporary Internet files, connections, and more. You can also restore default settings from this menu.

Browser Options

Allows you to set the options for your Rogers Yahoo! Browser, including default browser, text and graphic size and presentation, and display settings. Display settings include automatic sign in to Messenger and display Messenger bar at start up.

That's the ticket. Was trying to figure out what he did.
I remember setting up a computer for a friend and I didn't install the rogers cd that came with it, knowing it was all bull, loaded with programs she wouldn't need.
Just a clean fresh install, minus that junk.
Check your add/remove programs, see if you can remove any rogers extras, but be careful what you remove.
I'm assuming your browser has all those rogers/yahoo buttons right?

I'm not using the Rogers Internet browser. I think the only thing I installed from Rogers was the "Self Healing software", which has never helped anyways.

Check that you are not using the Rogers proxy server in your internet connection settings.

Open Internet Explorer , go to Tools, Internet Options, select Connections tab, then LAN Settings. and remove tick from Proxy server settings if present.

A proxy server caches the most popular web pages that users of an ISP access.

When you instruct your browser to use a proxy server, it will first search the proxy server for the web pages you request. If another user recently requested the same page, it may be stored on the proxy server, and your request will then be served by the proxy server, instead of having to go to the actual site.

The idea is to speed up the service by not having to go all the way back to the server (company) hosting the web page every time someone hits it. A proxy server can also be used to redirect requests to web sites.

Duplicating your problem shows the www.yahoo.com page picking up my login "xxxxx@rogers.com" from a cookie. Delete the cookies and My Yahoo now takes me to a generic login page. But if you login with your Rogers account you will be directed back to the rogers.yahoo.com site. I cannot confirm if this happens when not using the Rogers network. But, you could create a new Yahoo account and use that account instead.

I'm assuming when you sign up with Rogers, they link your Yahoo account up..so you see their special "Rogers Yahoo" pages. Getting another yahoo account wouldn't work since I've got "My Yahoo" setup with everything now and I use that yahoo email address currently.
