If you are looking at big screens and HDTV, you have to know one thing....
You want a screen that natively displays 1920x1080 pixels like the new Sony SXRB models. These TV's will display a true HDTV 1080 line picture without having to downscale the resolution to fit the screen.
You see this effect all the time on your PC when viewing high resolution pictures on a low resolution monitor. When you downscale any picture, it loses sharpness. Select "actual pixel display" and the picture is much clearer and larger.
Most HDTV settop boxes output at 1080 lines. Up to just recently, TV's claimed they can handle 1080 input, but they must downscale it to the screens actual resolution...usually 720.
Go compare the new Sony's SXRB 1920x1080 models with their Grand Wega 1024x768 models, and you will be amazed at what 1 to 1 pixel mapping looks like.
Don't let the salesmen try to fool you, by saying it accepts 1080 inputs. Sure it does, but it does not display it!!!
Prices on these older sets will be dropping fast as more manufactures deliver the 1080 models. So it is your choice.
