I thought the battle between these two was much closer than it actually is. I read that Sony has 80% of the market share vs. a meager 20% for X-box. Which kinda baffles me since my Blockbuster seems to have more X-box games.

It'll be interesting to see if the new X-box has an impact on market share. At this point I don't think it will since everyone I talk to seems to be waiting for the new PS.

I have a G-Cube, PS2 and have had two different X-Box. I love my PS2 have about 15 games for it.. just bought Ace Combat 05 for it yesterday in fact. :D I am not really all that interested in what the XB has to offer and honestly I am waiting to see what sony throws out to counter Microsofts 360.

The new PS3 "now with a built in phone... ta-da surf the web in absolute perfect pixel on your PS3 ... built in wireless.. " the curiosity and knowing they will easily match and most likely blow away the X-360 is what holds me back from buying the newest console.

BTW have either of you played any of the Ace Combat releases? Awesome game. I have AC o4 as well and have completed it about ten times. have all the planes, and when i seen 05 yesterday on sale for $30 (down from $80 ) i figured it was well worth it.

i like both ps2 and xbox as i have both. I am going to be bying a 360 when mine comes in(im on the waiting list). I want to bye a ps3 when they are released also. But that all depends on the price. I have read they are going to be very expensive (to the tune of $600-$700 us). Of course the final price has not been determined yet. I know they are going to have alot to offer but at that price I cant see myself getting it.

I love the ace combat series. I had #4 and i bought #5 loved then both. I just saw screen shots about the next one...I cant remember what it is going to be called...but it looks very good.

yeah I figured thats why the 05 was so cheap. ussually they wont release a game to that price unless its not the best in sales. and i know 05 is actually worth the $ so i was like "wtf.. $30 ?? i'll take it"

I love the graphics on it.. 04 was impressive for the actual controls you had over your plane.. and although i JUST bought 05 and i have only just gotten into like the 5th mission, i ma impressed with the graphics. they really put the emphasis on your speed. 04 was not so into "hey look, yer in a fighter jet and your doin over 1000mph.." they really did an excellent job at pointing out "yer doin over 1000mph" just by graphics alone.

Excellent game ;)

i love the halfway excelleration point when your engines actually kick in and you notice the boosters.

o5 did do a great job of making you feel like you where going fast. To me that is half of what makes that game as good as what it is. Plus the graphics are awesome. I spent alot of time just flying around looking around and flying fast trying to master the moves.

It is a great game....cant wait to get the naxt one

Yeah I played the newest Ace Combat a while ago. it is a very deep game. Lost interest though pretty quickly. I don't like the flight sim games too much. I prefer sports or racing. NBA Live 2006 is my favorite when it comes to sports. I don't like the new Madden. I was so excited to play it, got it the day it was released. Very dissappointed. :(

yeah i was only into one sport game and that was madden.. but i have not played that for a long time. and i have not played the newest version. i only get about half hour of gamin in every now and then.. ussually when my web and tech stuff bore me and i am close to passin out. lol throw on the ps@ and lay in bed playin til i pass out .. hahahahhahah

Got the PS2 first, it was alright dissapointed with the long load times and the les s than stellar graphics. Had low expectations for the XBOX, but when i got it i was very impressed with the faster load times, the built in hard drive and the better graphics. I know the PS2 is an older console but i wasn't blown away by it, it didn't feel like the next level up from the PS1. That's my $0.02 .

Oh I know. I use to game alot in my younger days. I don't game that much anymore. I get really excited about them, go out by all the games, all the gadgets, then once I pop it in I play for like two hours and get bored of it. Same goes for computer games. I buy them all, but just can't get into them. I end up giving them all to my younger brother. He loves me for that. LOL I think it is the age thing, I am just getting older and the appeal just isn't the same. Everytime I get really into it, I just think...fuck I could be hobbying right now...and then I go hobby!! LOL Pussy is still way better....:D

I was a dyed in the wool PS2 player. A buddy bought his PS2, then I bought my Xbox.

I couldn't find that many great titles for the Xbox, so I ended up trading systems for about a year with him. I ended up owning about 25 PS2 titles, and only a couple Xbox titles.

About 6 months or so ago, I found a few more interesting titles on the Xbox, and have been renting/buying more and more for the Xbox.

Stuff like GUN (great new one), Sid Meirs Pirates (repetitive, but fun), and a bunch of multi-platforms such as Tiger Woods 2005, etc.

I find that the Hard drive REALLY makes it better than trying to decide which game to delete off my memory cards for the PS2. I've got 4 memory cards, but every time I rent a new game, it seems that I have to decide what to delete to make room for the next 2mb the new game requires.

So, for now, it's mostly Xbox in rent/buy, but still using the PS2 for awesome games like Gran Turismo, and Grand Theft Auto.

i agree with you stumpy....i buy more games for xbox the i do my ps2...i still love my ps2 but i only use it for the games that i cant get on xbox.

with the hard drive it just seems to load up quicker. i also think the games look a little bit better on xbox them on ps2. but i love them both.

PS2 all the way! I can't stand that XBOX controller.
I can't stand the PS2 controller. They don't even have a real trigger. My thumbs always slip off the joysticks. Everything about it is not ergonomic. The XBOX s-controller (small) is perfect. The big controller is clumsier though. I also hate the memory card for saving. I used to own both PS2 and XBOX. I got rid of the PS2. The crappy controller alone was reason enough to sell it. Plus I despise Sony. (that's a whole other long story)
I find that the people who like PS2 over XBOX are people who gamed on the PS & PS2 for years before they tried the XBOX so they're used to it. Everyone I know that tried both around the same time prefer XBOX.

It's funny I guess it depends on which controller you get used to first. I prefer the feel of the PS2. The Xbox controller feels like an awkward brick.

I like the titles on the PS2 better, for me it was the tekken series that attracted and kept me with it. Also, I like games like Crash, Jak, Sly, and Ratchet and Clank. Not sure if Xbox has games similar to these silly adventure games. Course I also like the sports games but you can get it for either platform.

I look forward to the PS3 and could care less about the 360.

To me, the beauty of the xbox is:
o superior video quality vs PS2
o an amazing machine when mod'ed

The xbox mod is a lot simpler than the ps2 mod, and offers a lot more. XBOX media center is an amazing program, you can use free xbox live services... it simply takes a nice console and turns it into something much much more.

My fave gaming platform right now though is the PSP. I think it is a beautiful piece of hardware, with some very good games.
